Lianne George is a content strategist, journalist, and brand-builder with two decades of experience in Canadian media. She has held leadership roles at Maclean’s and Canadian Business and was the founding editor of Torstar’s internationally acclaimed city weekly The Grid. As Director of Strategic Communications for BII+E, Lianne is responsible for bringing the institute’s vital research and insights on the innovation economy to policymakers and broad audiences in accessible, high-impact formats.
Prior to joining BII+E, Lianne served as Editor-in-Chief of Chatelaine and Director of Lifestyle Content for Rogers Digital Content & Publishing. Under her direction, Chatelaine
In the past two years, Lianne has embarked on two entrepreneurial ventures. In 2018, she launched George&Co., a content consultancy focused on helping brands connect with women through a progressive lens. In early 2020, as Chief Brand Officer of BalmLabs, she helped launch a new DTC skincare brand to the U.S. market, since featured in Vogue, Refinery29, Martha Stewart, and others.
