Kayla Zhu

Communications Intern

Kayla is joining the BII+E team for summer 2021 as a Communications Intern where she’ll be supporting the communications team in bringing the institute’s research and insights to wider audiences. She is currently a journalism student at Ryerson University entering her fourth year and pursuing a minor in visual communications.

Kayla has worked in editorial leadership positions at Ryerson’s independent campus paper The Eyeopener and a general interest magazine, Ryerson Folio. She has covered current events and major topics in the Canadian media industry as a reporter for J-Source. She is interested in data-driven journalism, the relationship between social media companies and journalism, digital accessibility and telling people-first stories.
