In a career that has spanned more than 25 years as a senior executive in the non-profit sector, Gillian led organizations locally, nationally and internationally. Now working at multiple scales in workforce development innovation, Gillian is demonstrating the power of leveraging and aligning existing stakeholders and actors along workforce pathways. Together with stakeholders — employers, skills trainers, contractors, social service organizations and community — Gillian is demonstrating the power of a demand led, supply driven, networked managed approach to workforce development that removes barriers and bridges gaps between job seekers and employers.
Through this systems change work, Gillian has come to understand the behaviours, needs, aspirations and limitations of the various stakeholders to improve outcomes for employers and workers alike. Gillian is now advising on the development of tools and guidelines to cascade this approach to other communities.
An urban planner with degrees from the University of Waterloo (B.E.S., Honour Urban and Regional Planning), and Western University (M.P.A.), Gillian is Principal, Gillian Mason Consultancy.
