Chad Story was a Senior Projects Officer at the Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship (BII+E) in 2018.

As a researcher, strategist and designer, Chad has dedicated his professional and academic career to improving public participation in democratic life. He uses co-design as a platform to bring citizens closer to the important policy issues that affect them in their day-to-day lives.

He is a senior projects officer at the Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship, managing a range of projects as part of the Policy Innovation Platform: a pilot program that experiments with emerging innovation tools and methods for public policy development.

Prior to joining Brookfield BI+E, he worked as a design researcher at Bridgeable; was a research associate and co-creator of the Ryerson University FCAD Design Network; and worked in the marketing and communication industry conducting research and providing strategic advice to some of Canada’s top brands.

Chad is a co-founder and director of Service Design Canada, a national not-for-profit dedicated to connecting, sustaining and promoting the practice of service design in Canada. He is also completing a PhD in Communication & Culture at York University. His dissertation examines the emergence of design in the Canadian public service and the effects these practices may have in redefining the relationship between citizens and the state. He has an undergraduate degree in Political Studies from Trent University and a Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Ottawa.
