Matthew Lo was a Policy Advisor at the Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship (BII+E) from 2016-2017.
Matthew has a background in economics, sustainable development and empirical analysis. His current research interests include fiscal policy, social welfare and the economic impacts of entrepreneurship.
With work experience in the Federal Government and Fraser Institute, Matthew has practical knowledge on economic analysis, empirical policy evaluation and project management. In his past roles, he has conducted research on the economic impacts of taxation, and the relationship between resource development and economic growth.
Matthew joined BII+E with a keen interest in exploring how entrepreneurship affects the development of modern economies and societies. He hopes to discover relevant and robust policy insights through the rigorous examination of current issues on entrepreneurship and innovation.
Matthew holds a Master’s degree in Economics from UBC and a Joint Honours degree in Economics and Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo. When he is not thinking about policy, Matthew enjoys playing guitar and canoeing.
