I am thrilled to announce that Heather Russek will be joining the Brookfield Institute team as our Director (Acting), Policy Innovation Platform, as Alex Conliffe is on maternity leave.
Heather’s passion for human-centered design and driving innovation across sectors has lead her through a career of corporate strategy, consulting and management. Heather comes to this role from St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto’s west end, where she was the Director, Corporate Strategy and Strategic Initiatives. She has also held roles as a program manager, privacy and access, at Cancer Care Ontario and a clinical product manager at Ontario MD.
Heather will lead the Policy Innovation Platform (PIP), an initiative that aims to improve the impact of public policies and programs that lead to vibrant communities. In supporting policymakers’ continuous adoption of policy innovation methods and tools, PIP designs and runs collaborative engagements, curates resources and works with policymakers, rigorously evaluating what works (and what doesn’t) to share lessons widely. Heather aspires to use novel methodologies to engage citizens in PIP’s work, enabling policy innovation through new models of collaboration.
Heather holds a Master of Design in Strategic Foresight and Innovation from OCAD University, an MBA from McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Science from Queen’s University.
Heather’s appointment will be effective on January 22, 2018.
Please join me in welcoming Heather to the BII+E team!
